Cup Cake's galore

Hi everyone, last week I came across a great magazine dedicated to cup cakes as I always create a mess when baking I decided to take the magazine apart, laminate and bind the recipe's. I've used a sweet image from Mo Manning which I've coloured with Promarkers, sorry I can't remember where I bought the wood letters or the papers used. Anyways I'm really happy with the end result except the picture which could have been better, still that's the way it goes.

I've not entered any challenges for ages and as the theme over at Sir Stampalot has a foody theme I though I would enter for the fun.

Molly Blooms

Wow....... Another card in matter of days, the elusive card making mojo has returned, not sure how long it will last so I'd better make the most of it :-) So in keeping with the celebration what is more appropriate than Molly with her banners.

For the this card I've used a Molly Blooms stamp using the sketch from this weeks challenge over at Passion For Pro markers, sorry the papers are mix of scraps so not sure who's they are. The image was coloured with Pro markers, I've used seam binding for the bow and a Prima butterfly completes the card.

Molly Blooms Farm Yard Birthday Card

It's been weeks since my last post and for this I apologise, for whatever reason I lost that thing called Mojo having said this I had a pleasant afternoon painting this Molly Bloom stamp which I've decoupaged onto watercolour paper, once this was done I decided to take the opportunity to create a birthday card, it's a simple enough card no frills or surprises but I have to admit I really like the simplicity of it.

I do have an issue the larger Molly Bloom stamps, the one above just fit my 6" x 4" acrylic block and with my Christmas scenic Molly Bloom I had to resort to using a DVD case which I found really difficult to centre and stamp evenly probably due to me having small hands!! If anyone has found a better alternative to using the larger stamps I would love to know. There was also a problem with the above stamp despite stamping the image a few times for the decoupage there was an area of the tree which did not make contact with the paper fortunately I managed to fill the gap with paint so that it was not noticeable. Anyways it's nice to be back and I hope you like my latest effort.

Oops nearly forgot I coloured the image with inks on watercolour paper keeping a watercolour effect as I painted.

A Simple Birthday Card

This is the first card I've made since February and it's for my hubby who's birthday is on the 3rd May. He did however tell me that he wanted a card without ribbons, flowers, or any rubbish sticking on it ( his words not mine). The card actually became a challenge in itself firstly because I don't have many if any stamps suitable for men, I did find this LOTV stamp which I've not used before the second challenge was colour hubby's favourite colour is black, he wears nothing else but that colour. With this in mind I decided use the Promarker cool grey's to colour the image, I had to make two attemps at the colouring as I wanted to leave a lot of white contrast for clarity. The card stock is a textured Ivory, I've also stamped the image on the card insert.

I'm disappointed with the photographs as I had to take the pictures early this morning so the light was not great. In reality the card looks really crisp and neat.

Gift Box - Hat Box

I had the idea to make this gift box after chatting with Kaz at Crafty Bunch where she mentioned a challenge with a hat theme. I already had this circular box and an old template for a hat and completed the project last night. To be honest when I started to decorate the box I had in mind a more shabby look but like so many crafting projects they end up nothing like the original idea.

I've used a plain striped paper which I've stamped with tiny flowers and leaves along the base of the box and round the edges of the lid. The hat was made from the template below and decorated with ribbon, flowers and trim.

I'm not sure who created the original template to give credit too except to say I've had it quite a few years. I've writen the sizes I've worked to but any size can be worked from the diagram.

I was looking at Sir Stampalot Challenge which is Ladies and Fashion and I think this project fits their theme.

Paper Topiary

Hi everyone sorry I've not blogged for quite a while, the saying 'It never rains but it pours' comes to mind which put crafting and my blog on the back burner for a few weeks, it's only been this last week where I've felt like doing any crafting at all and I have to thank Sue of Crafty Bunch for getting me back on the crafting track with paper topiary tree's.

Sue had created a wonderful paper topiary tree and I just had to have a go myself, typical I'm a glutton for punishment and had to make three using my scrap leftover papers.

The tree on the left I made using the Nestabilites Scallop dies, wetting and scruching the circles into flowers shapes. I left the flowers to dry and sprayed with starch and fixed to a round polystyrene ball with crafting glue ( I found after that a glue gun works so much better). The base is a recycled tin which I've covered with paper and finished with a lace edge. (approx 50 flowers used)

The flowers on the tree back right were made with a MS punch and another flower shaped punch, pinned together with brads and glued to the ball. the stems were made by holding a few wooden kebab sticks together and bound with Tim Holtz paper tissue or you could use Japanese washi tape the exact same thing with lots of colours and patterns to choose from. (approx 100 flowers used)

The flowers on the front tree were made from using the two smallest flower shapes from the Tim Holtz 'Tattered Florals die. (approx 60 flowers used).

I love Spring and to me it's the best time of year, I've noticed Crocus are starting to bloom giving a beautiful splash of colour, which makes me feel all warm and happy inside. Having said this I've been off colour all week so I've not had the energy to do very much this week and that includes crafting.

I made the card above for the I ♥ Promarkers challenge, and theme is Stitching real or faux and of course the use of Promarkers, our sponsor is Digi Doodle Shops Best and for my card I chose this sweet image as it had a lovely Spring/Summer feel to it. I actually blew the dust off my sewing machine and stitched the background strip with pink cotton choosing a leaf type stitching to compliment the die cut leaves, flowers and a mix of designer papers to complete the card.

Saturdays Child

Saturday's here and what better way to celebrate than using this fabulous image from Mo Manning appropriately named Saturdays Child, I've used Promarkers to colour the image and added a little bit of organic raffia seemed to suit the image.

I've also had a little sort out and came across two Crafters Companion Ink Pads as I only need one I'm putting the extra one on this post as a giveaway. Mo's Savannah on Easter

Just a quick post I was browsing the challenges this morning and decided to have a go at Mo's Challenge which is a sketch by Cathy, I was just in the right frame of mind to have a couple hours of colouring and chose this image called Savannah on Easter, not that I had any thoughts of creating an Easter card, I just loved the image and had the urge to colour her with Promarkers, I've also added glitter to the edge of the petticoat but as always happens the camera has not picked this up. The backing papers are a mixed bunch of off cuts from other projects the daisies on the bottom edge of the image are paper punched and the heart is a Mariannes die, a few flowers completed the card.

Now onto my card for the latest I ♥ promarker Challenge and the theme for this week is Paper Piecing and our sponsor is Die Cut Dreams. Remember we need to see Promarkers being used to be eligible for the prize draw.

It seems ages since I last did a Tilda card and to be honest I bought this little beauty at the NEC last November and had completely forgotten I had her (how sad is that), I've coloured her with Promarkers and the potted plant is an Hanglar Stanglar stamp which I bought sometime ago and it too is having its debut with Tilda, I've paper pieced the plant pot with some scrap DP, the flowers again are coloured with Promarkers. The lacy cloth is cut from a paper doily, the flowers are from Wild Orchid and the backing papers are from the V&A Hanoverian collection. Lol just lately all my cards seem to tilt to oneside I must get an arm prop when I'm taking the photo's. Oh yes nearly forgot I used the word processor for the text on the plant tag and cut this freehand.

Promarker Blending Demonstration

I thought it was time to have a play with the camcorder and create a demonstration on how I coloured this little Hanglar Stanglar image.

I make no apologies for the times I say 'Ivory' or for my peculiar Yorkshire/Midlands accent, I do however apologise for the grainy video's which I had to compress loosing quite a lot of picture quality. I've divided the demonstration into three parts. The jacket and hat are featured first followed by the skirt scarf etc finishing with skin tones and hair.

6" Card Box Template

My card was made using one of their images, which I've coloured with Promarkers, I've sewn silk ribbon around the oval and found a fab piece of lace which I've used to cover the background paper, to be honest I thought it might be too deep but it seems to work so I'm happy with it.

No Strawberries But Lots of Cream

It's one of those days where I've played with paints and paper, not I might add with anything definite to make, I wanted to try out some Aqua Markers from Letraset and I managed to paint this Hanglar girl on lightweight watercolour paper, as I was in play mode I decided to use nothing but watercolour paper to construct this card, I was interested in creating texture using only one type of paper. I used the sketch by Donalda from Just Magnolia and Hanglar Stanglar Challenge with a slight variation to the band. The watercolour paper is white, but it has a creamy look to it which reminded me of Strawberries and Cream, no idea why lol.

I've not made my mind up yet about the Aqua Markers, the only advice I will offer is do not use the pens direct to paper or use the blender as I've found the pigment takes off a layer of paper which leaves nasty dark spots on the colouring. I used a cheap watercolour brush and water. scribbling the pigment onto an acrylic block and picking the paint up with a damp brush applying washes of colour until I was happy (which is nearly always never). Anyways I've enjoyed my day despite it being cold, dark and flippin miserable outside

Oh What Joy!

I bought a couple of Sugar Nelli digital stamps the other day and the image on this card is called Joy and she is just adorable, I did however have some doubts about colouring her as shading is already applied to the images and I always prefer to add my own shading and light source. Once I started to colour I realised there was plenty of scope to enhance the shading etc especially on this image. I've used Promarkers to colour the image, the papers are from the collection Gossamer, I've embossed the oval background and also added new laser cuts from the Papermania Bird Song pack, hearts and ribbon complete the card. I've used the sketch from this weeks challenge over at the Sugar Bowl and will enter this card into their challenge

Oh Dear... Who's Sulky Now

Hi all... It's an age since I last posted anything and to be honest I was fed up of logging on and seeing the same flippin Cracker on my previous post, so this evening I blew the dust of my colour pencils and coloured this image by Mo Manning, isn't she adorable despite the sulky face. I've decided to mount and frame it rather than completing as a greetings card, hence no sentiments and minimal bling. It's been a couple of years since I did anything with colour pencils so I'm a bit rusty, plus I usually paint larger projects so I've had to adjust how I applied the colour to a small image and was not sure if it would turn out OK.

I've used Faber Castell PolyChromo pencils on pastel paper building layer upon layer of different colours until I was happy with the end result and for once I obeyed the golden rule know when to stop lol. I do have a pointer in regards to colour pencils Prisma/karisma pencils are wax based and any completed work will, after time develop a white bloom, it can be easily removed with a soft cloth so it's best to seal work first before this happens. Faber Castell Polychromo pencils are Oiled Based slightly harder to blend but they won't develop the white bloom to mar any work. Hope you like and thank you for stopping by.

I Must Be Crackers

Well it's December 22nd and here in the Midlands it's snowing again, fun for the children but on a personal level it's not so great we had planned to to stay and celebrate Christmas in Yorkshire with our family but this now looks as though it isn't going to happen the council have not done a brilliant job of keeping the main roads clear I believe the motor ways are not so bad but it's getting to them that is the problem, and then of course we have to think about making our way back, whatever the out come we intend to enjoy ourselves and if crunch comes to crunch and we can't join the family at this festive time we know we will get to see them sometime soon.

This Cracker is my DT project for I Love Promarkers and the theme for this week is Anything Goes and our sponsor for this challenge is Digi Doodle Shop.

Rainy days

Christmas is nearly here and we are so looking forward to spending quality time with our family back in Yorkshire. I've still one or two presents to buy and then we can sit back a relax, the only thing that could spoil things is if it snows and stops travel so keeping my fingers crossed for trouble free travel.

The image I've chosen for this card is from Penny Black I just loved the detail. I have to admit it's the only Penny Black stamp in my collection but I have plans to rectify that in the New Year he he he.

I've chosen to use the sketch over at Pink Gems and coloured the image with Promarkers, the papers are from the Gossamer collection which are beautiful, although as is the norm the camera always distorts the true colours. flowers and silk ribbon complete the card. The challenge over at Penny Black is Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to me this stamp is one of my absolute favourites and beautiful to boot.

Christmas Song

This cold snap is becoming uncomfortable the landscape is beautiful but the central heating is struggling to keep the house comfortable and one thing I hate is being cold. Only a couple of years ago in November we were in the garden with just our Tshirts on which felt quite unreal, so in one respect despite the chill factor it's nice to have the seasonal weather back to where it should be.

This is my DT card for I ♥ Promarkers and the theme this week is A Christmas Song/Carol which is being sponsored by Letraset. The Christmas song I've chosen is called 'Christmas Time Is Here' it's the most exciting time of year for children and the verse and image by Mo Manning appealed to me.
I've coloured the image Promarkers and used a MS punch for the edges with a music sheet to back the image.

Old Pearl buttons new image

I was itching to colour this image 'Trying to read' by Mo Manning not for any particular reason other than to play with colour. I'm not quite sure what he's reading but as he looks mystical I presume it's a book of spells or maybe with the bottle he's conjuring a spirit or too, whatever I really enjoyed using the Promarkers to colour the image. This is my DT card for the I ♥ Promarkers Challenge and the theme this week is Anything Goes with a bit of glitter using of course your Promarkers. I did apply a hint of glitter to the folds of the clothes but you can't see it that well, still that's the way it goes. The image is from the Digi Doodle Shop who are sponsoring the challenge this week.

After all the Christmas cards I've been making it was a delightful change to do something different, not that I know of any expectant mums to give this card to, or any babies coming up to their first birthday, so I'll put it way until I do.

Hi all, thought I would make another Tilda card, I've followed the Magnolia Down Under sketch by Chantelle. My first thoughts were to use mainly white, but as the card progressed it became more gold than white. Tilda is coloured with Promarkers keeping to golden yellows. I cannot remember the name of the background paper, I've taken part of this paper for the side panels where I've randomly applied thick gold embossing powder and then applied gold glitter over the top. The leaves and scrolls were cut from gold card I also made the lattice window from strips of the same card. white roses and butterfly complete the card.

This is my second post today, thought it was time to do another Tilda card seems ages since my last one. I did wonder if I pushing my luck as the light today is dreadful. I decided to follow Donalda's Sketch over at Just Magnolia and tried to create a shabby chic look for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge. I'm not sure if I've managed to create the shabby look as I'm not very good at distressing paper, I either don't do enough or I end up over doing it. In fact the more I look at this picture I'm beginning to wonder if it looked better under the dank dark light it which I created it lol. If you are wondering how I managed to take the picture on a dull day like today, I do have a makeshift type of light tent, which makes it possible to take photographs and it seems to work.
The stamp is one of the Magnolia range which I bought at the NEC along with a few others but I'm not counting it's too scary, coloured with Promarkers. The background paper is from a pad called Fairy Flora from Prima Marketing. Various other papers for the scrolls etc and flowers and I've created the faux stitching with a needle tool and pen, as I'm too lazy to bring out my sewing machine.

Hi all, it seems ages since my last post. October and November have been especially good months for me and I'm thrilled to bits to say that I have been invited to join the girls over at I love ProMarkers as a permanent member of the DT.

The I Love ProMarkers Challenge this week is Icy Colours and there is a fab prize from Letraset.

For this card I have used a stamp from Lilli Of the Valley which I bought at the NEC last week, and thought it would be ideal for this challenge, I've used ProMarkers to colour the image mainly Arctic Blue, Powder Blue and Denim blue for the igloo, and used only two colours Ice Grey 3 and Ice grey 5 for the Pingo's. The icicles I cut from card and glittered.

This is my last card as guest designer for Crafts 4 Eternity, and I've really enjoyed the experience. This week we had to follow the sketch and include a Christmas tree. I don't have a Christams tree stamp so I used an old Sizzix die which I've had for years. The stamped image is from the Lilli Of The Valley set 4 Merry Christmas, which I've coloured with Pro markers with glittter added to the hat and coat.

Best Friends Card

I made this card yesterday for the fun of it, plus I needed a break from the quilt I am making. The stamp I've used is called 'Purrfect Playmates' from Sugar Nellie which I've coloured with Pro markers. The circle is cut from a Nestablilites Scallop die, the hexagon I cut free hand, I then stamped the edges with stamps from a Tapestry set called Floral Filigree Wreath, which I further enhanced with scribbles of glitter and gold gel pen. To finish I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink Tattered Rose. The heart decoration I made some time ago from scrap paper gold leaf, gem and glitter. Scrolls and Prima flowers finish the card. Moving Along With The Tmes Challenge is being sponsered by Letraset where there a some very nice prizes.

Hi all, this weeks challenge over at Crafts 4 Eternity is Spooky, follow the sketch and recipe with the chance to win Halloween Bingo Card digital stamps.

I'm not really into Halloween so I found the recipe difficult, I could not think of a single reason why I would make a card for this event, so decided that my best option was to create a treat bag, and once I got into the swing of it I really enjoyed creating it, I used digital stamps from Crafts 4 Eternity to decorate the bag. All I have to do now is fill it with a few teeth rotting goodies and my job as wicked witch of the midlands is done cackle, cackle.

October has been a great month for me in regards to card challenges, I think my card making must showing signs of improvement as I'm thrilled to say I've won and been placed as top three etc for some of this months challenges.

I thought it was time to bring out another Tilda stamp and this little lady is gorgeous and one of my favourites, that is until another little beauty hits the shops. I've coloured Tilda with Pro Markers and edged her hat with gold glitter. The centre circle is made from parchment, the design for this I adapted from a Victorian white work pattern. The flowers and butterfly are Prima which I've further enhanced with gold glitter, although like most photographs it doesn't show up that well. I've used the sketch from Magnolia Down Under. I've been busy this week sewing or more to the point getting to know my new sewing machine and quilting and so far everything is going together OK, usually with patchwork etc it doesn't. So this week my work table is covered in fabric and not paper.
Getting back to paper crafts I made this card as GDT this week for Crafts 4 Eternity where we had to use a sketch and a recipe using white, with the theme 'White Christmas'. I love working with white and for this card I dry embossed a grid on the background and used an embossing folder to emboss the center strip. The image is another stamp from Lili of the Valley set #4 Merry Christmas, which I've stamped onto a layered scallop circle nestabilities and coloured with Pro markers. Ribbon completes the card. This week Crafts 4 Eternity are being sponsored by Crafty Sentiments where you can win a really cute digital.

Hi peeps, this is my second entry as GDT for Crafts 4 Eternity. The theme is All that Glitters using sketch S#105. To make this card I used a LOTV stamp from set #1 'Oh So Girlie' I love these stamps they are so cute and a joy to work with. I've coloured the fairy with Pro markers and glittered the edges of the skirt and wings. I've layered Nestabilities half scallops to the outer edges of the circular card and further decorated the scallops with button discs. Prima flowers and ribbon complete this card.

Pretty in Pink Tilda

It's been a funny few days, I went to a craft show at the weekend stocked up on a few bits and pieces which added up to more than I had intended to spend, nothing unusual there,except to say the show was uninspiring and heavens above boring, since then I've had no inclination to do any crafting or painting in fact I felt like giving everything away and never doing anything creative again, pretty scary for someone who likes to create on a daily basis, today I decided to tidy up the craft table and clear out any Gremlins that might just have been lurking and found the old mojo hidden in my Promarker drawer. Oh joy! I'm back to crafting.

For this card I've used this months CLP challenge sketch, I've used Promarkers to colour the images, the background garden scene is a digital stamp from Squiggle Fly, which I layered over a sky background which I've coloured with various inks. Flowers, lace, glitter and gems complete the card.

I was thrilled to have won the GDT position for October with Crafts 4 Eternity. As always happens when working to a deadline something always happens that puts a screw in the works and this morning for some reason I was unable to up load my picture it took a few attempts before windows stopped closing my connection.
The theme this week is Wacky Weather using a sketch recipe #53 For this card I've used a stamp from Lili of the Valley set#1 'Oh so Girlie which I've coloured with Promarkers. For the background I've used various inks and handmade masks to create the landscape and as the theme is Wacky Weather I decided to try and create the feeling of a warm balmy day . I've used various pattern papers, lace, ribbon and flowers to complete the card.

Fairy Tilda Card

This card was so much fun to make, I started by weaving part of the background paper adding gold stripes to some of the edges. The lace edge is made from parchment paper cut with a Martha Stewart border punch, I then further embellished the lace with simple embossing, next I cut and punched a strip of pink card to match the parchment. After experimenting with the parchment lace border I decided to try cutting the centre circle with a nestabilities scallop circle and decorated the edges again with simple embossing, only this time I decided to use a needle tool to further enhance the decoration. See the picture below for a close up.

I made the heart from various sized punches cut from scrap card and paper decorated with gem and glitter. Ribbon and beige/brown roses complete the card. Tilda was coloured with Promarkers with glitter added to the wings and dress. I had forgotten how relaxing it is to work with parchment, I think I will have to work on more :-) Hope you like and thank you in advance for stopping by and your kind comments which are always appreciated.

It was decision time this morning, do the housework or craft, crafting won the day but I can't ignore the dust forever especially now that the dining table is full of crafty mess.

I bought Woodland Fairy last week and have been itching to play with it so decided to enter the Sugar Bowl Challenge using Lilians Sketch. Ever had one of those where you were given the run a round, passed from pillar to post, wrong department, try this one, sorry you need to speak to so and so etc etc !! Well that was my day so what do you do when you've pulled enough hair to create wig you bring out the stamps browse through the challenge blogs and stamp, stamp, stamp the frustration away. Thank goodness I can loose myself in paper and bling. I've now resurfaced feeling calm and at peace with the world, that is until tomorrow.

Usually I only create a card that fits maybe one or two challenges, but I've excelled by myself to day and I think this card will qualify for a few, that is if I don't get my links all messed up!!.

For this card I've used the sketch from Midnight Madness Challenge MMSC 72 this will be the first time I've entered one of their challenges. The Girlie stamp is from set #1 ' Oh so Girlie' by lili of the Valley I've coloured the image with Pro Markers and made the flowers from ordinary cartridge paper coloured with inks with beads added to the centres, lace ribbon and charm complete the card. Ooops forgot to mention glitter added here and there on the image. I followed a lovely tutorial by Valita to make the flowers which can be found here

I love working with Sweet Pea Ching-Chou Kuik stamps there are so many possibilities for creating mood with colour. I masked the image and applied a background of various coloured inks, I don't get on with brayers and I hate the ink wastage so I always use brushes. I then coloured the image itself with Promarkers and completed areas of the image with glitter. I've used the sketch by Pascal from Sweet Pea Stampers challenge

Chinese Tilda #2

I just couldn't resist another card featuring Chinese Tilda, the background was not so much difficult as fiddly, I first cut a mask for the Magnolia tree so that I could create a landscape background with inks, I then randomly ripped paper as stencils for the background hills. I then completed the Magnolia tree with Pro Markers, Tilda is also coloured with Pro Markers. The flower I quilled with ordinary cartridge paper tinted with inks. I did do more quilled flowers but for some reason putting more than one on the card did not seem to work. Anyway I really enjoyed putting this card together despite the time it has taken to complete. I've based the layout from the CLP Challenge.

Hi peeps I've not had time to craft this week, we went back home to Yorkshire for our sons 40th surprise birthday party and also managed to fit in a paper crafting show on the Sunday at Harrogate, where I managed to spend far more than I intended. Chinese Tilda is one of my favourite buys along with a few bags of other goodies, so all in all I've had a great weekend.
The light is quite bad today for taking photographs so the colours on this card are not looking as brilliant as they are in reality,' hey ho sometimes that's the way it goes'. I've used the sketch which is featured on this weeks Magnolia Down Under Challenge, Tilda is coloured with Pro Markers, the background papers are from Crafty Individuals, I've embellished the flowers with findings and beads, black organza ribbon and bow complete the card.

Hi peep's seems to be my weekend for Fairy / fantasy stamping. This beauty is called Hiding and is a Crafts and Me stamp. I started to colour her with Pro Markers last night till my light went and then continued this morning, the flower paper is a Basic Grey the larger paper is called colour texure which I bought a few years ago. Lace and pearl heart embellishments complete the card. I've used Crafts 4 eternity Sketch.

Fantasy Card

I wanted to try one of Ching-chou Kuik's design stamps and decided it was time to order one from Crafts and Me I'm so pleased I did, this stamp is called 'Flowing in Blue and delivers on detail lots of it. I've coloured the image with Pro Markers and decided to leave the card as simple as possible, there are times when less is more especially as I wanted the image to be the focal point of the card. I've also dotted small gems on the hair but these are not showing up to well on the picture.

I love working with Pro Markers but they are not the easiest of mediums to work with and getting the right card is a difficulty in itself, after a bit of trial and error I've found Rymans Bright white coated card 200gsm is my favourite. The colour stays damp for quite a while which means I can work wet in wet with the pigment making it so much easier to blend different colours together. I always us Brilliance Lightning black pigment ink to stamp my images, it's waterproof so I can use all water based mediums including Pro Markers.

I've used Papermania and Basic Grey pattern card stock. I've coloured the image with Promarkers with the following colours.

Hair- Ginger,Spice,

Grapes- Pastel blue,Bluebell

Skin- Blush,Sunkissed pink,Coral

Ink it up are having their first challenge anything goes but with some yellow in the project, I think this card fits the challenge as there is yellow in the cardstock plus vanilla and yellow mustard with the colours I've used to colour the blouse.

Hi peeps I've been disorganised since having the grandchildren . Normally the craft items I use are in organised chaos in and around the dining room table, fridge, microwave etc I think you get the picture, I had to clear everything away and now I can't find anything so I've spent most of the afternoon running up and down stairs trying to complete this card. The good thing is I've probably lost a pound or two which would be nice.
I had intended using the sewing machine on this card but I didn't have the energy to carry the machine down stairs so I drew the stitching instead. I've used Basic Grey card stock. Tilda is coloured with Pro Markers. The flower I made yesterday with a few others using sheer fabrics and beads. Ribbon completes the card. I've used the sketch from this months CLP challenge

Seems ages since my last posting, we've had the pleasure of looking after our two granddaughter's so I've not had the time or the inclination to do any crafting, in fact whatever 'mojo' is I've lost it. In a bid to recapture my mojo I decided to create a very simple card using a Sassy Studio Design digital stamp which I was happy to win last week. The image is coloured with Pro markers. The ribbon holder I made a few weeks ago and is made from various types of glass beads and crystals. I've kept the design and layout simple with only the ribbon holder as an embellishment.

I've been sorting through my craft items for the last few weeks, trying to bring order out of chaos, some of the crafty bits I've had for years, when I say we celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary yesterday you will get a good idea of how old some of this stuff is. Anyway whilst having a good rummage I came across this template by 'Arty Farty' I'd bought the template about four years ago and never used it, mainly due to the fact I can be quite lazy about cutting out templates especially when tracing is involved. It took a couple of hours for me to prepare the template, thankfully it is now ready and other boxes and parasols will not take so long to make. Once the main template was ready the rest was a breeze I'm glad now that I decided to make the box as it is so pretty.
I've coloured Tilda with Pro markers and added glitter to the edges of the skirt and parasol. The box was cut from 12 x12 pattern card stock. The parasol was made with paper, lace, kebab stick and beads. The circular label was stamped with 'Justrite' stamps and decorated with flowers, acetate lines the front of the box and ribbon ties the box together at the top.

I made the flower on this card a few weeks ago along with a few others and I've been waiting for an excuse to use it on a project. I wanted to, for a change keep things neutral hence the white embossed card, I stamped the Art element, the photograph is one I've had for a long time and never used. The leaves are Prima fabric with pieces of sheer fabric to finish. It made a nice change making a card without a cute image to work with. The sketch I've used is one by Sasya, I love her sketches they are always so elegant.

It's been a great day for shopping managed to find a pack of Aqua Markers in an art shop when I was looking for something totally different, I've not had chance to try them, I don't think they will be any different to applying water to any other water based media, I'm hoping I get chance to try them later this evening.

Well I had a struggle with the second Totally Tilda Challenge, the main stumbling block was which shape to use, in the end I decided it would be nice to try a plant pot. I've fudged the plant pot shape without any templates and I'm giving myself a great big pat on the back as I managed it in one cutting session, usually there is a pile of scrap paper covering my feet. Tilda is coloured with Pro Markers, the paper is one I've had for ages (years) I liked the cracked paint look of it which seems to suit the plant pot idea. Ooh nearly forgot I bought a set of Justrite stamps and made the circle sentiment using them, I need a bit of practice with these as they don't always seem to sit level on the stamp. Ribbon, flowers and lace complete the card.

First my apologies for not getting round to every one's workspace last week. After showing my addiction to colour pencils I thought it was time to make a box for all the loose pencils especially the Karisma which are only held together with rubber bands. I found these book type boxes which I'm going to decorate and store the pencils in. The book on the table is one I bought last March and has lots of ideas using mixed media techniques so today I will be up to my elbows in gesso and acrylic. Amendment it's 1.00 pm and I'm still trying to catch up with everyones posting. Elbows in paint will have to wait till tomorrow lol.
Some of you asked to see what I painted with colour pencils and below is a picture of a commission I was asked to do a few years ago. It was painted with colour pencils on pastel paper building up many layers of colour to till I was happy with the result.

Today I blew the dust of my Tilda stamps and had an enjoyable couple of hours with the Pro Markers. I'd bought one of those water brushes to play with and found it to be absolutely useless as a painting tool, so it's back to my trusty watercolour brushes (not the sable's too expensive for dye inks). I'm still kicking myself for buying the thing, hope I get over my bad buy before my shins turn blue.
Getting back to the subject of Tilda girl above as I mentioned she is coloured with Pro Markers and I've used the sketch from Sweet Stampn challenge, I've used various designer papers, flowers, leaves and and a bit of lace to complete the card. Not sure if I've over done the flowers.

Pretty Gillian card

Now the colour green is not one of my favourite colours so this was more of a challenge than the challenge itself it was however a great excuse for a bit of crafty shopping and I managed to find some beautiful green paper and ribbon plus a few other items which were must haves. I've used a digital design called Pretty Gillian from Prairie Fairy Designs I thought she was gorgeous, comical and cheerful and will bring a smile to any one's face. Pretty Gillian is coloured with Pro markers, the flower was a free stamp given away with this months Craft Stamper a bit of lace and Prima fabric leaves finish the card.
I don't know about other crafters but I'm always disapointed with the photographs of my cards and projects they never look as good as the finished thing.

Wednesday morning and there ain't a thing on my work desk, and as you all like to have a good nosey in craft drawers and boxes I decided to show my colour pencils sorry the pic is at a peculiar angle the drawer is packed with pencils from various companies the loose one's in the drawer are the full set of 120 Karisma my fav's to work with. Do I use all these Delicious pencils? You bet I do, sometimes I even put my arty hat on and paint with them.

Wondering whats in the other drawers? Wait and see :-)

I've not had a good day today, feeling a bit under the weather with a headache with legs and feet covered in Hives, I get Hives daily and so I've got used to the discomfort of them, it's just degree's of discomfort, I'm waiting for that blissful day when they go as suddenly as they arrived or so I've been told. So while I was feeling sorry for myself I decided to to enter my first Whiff of Joy Challenge, I was fortunate in finding a shop that had their stamps and chose this one because I loved the detail, not sure what this little beauty is called I think she's gorgeous and that will do for me, she was a delight to colour I just love the stripes on the dress.
I've used Pro Markers to colour the image, lace. decorative papers and flowers complete the card.

Sitting tilda Card

I've been trying out the blogger templates in design, after a few hours of playing I'm happy with the new look, although I'll probably start tinkering with things again, no hope for some.

The card above is based on Sasya's sketch 20, I've coloured Tilda with Pro markers I can't remember the exact colours as I coloured this Tilda a few weeks ago and not got round to using her, I would guess Dusky Rose and China blue have been used. I've stamped and distressed the text by damping the paper to remove some of the ink I've also distressed the torn edges of the paper with Tim Holtz distress ink. I made the envelope with a lace doily and card which I've edged with glitter glue and decorated with flowers, ribbon, and a bead pin which I made a few weeks ago when I was in my beading mood, I also made a few bead ribbon holders at the same time but did not have room to put one on this card. As I was making this card I kept to colours which reminded me of my favourite ice cream which is vanilla and raspberry for the Stamptacular challenge yummy.

Tokyo Girl Card

Not exactly a Tilda on this card, she is called Tokyo Girl by Karen which can be bought as a digital stamp from Dewdrop Craftz. I've had this image a while and thought it would be great to try out different colouring techniques with the Pro markers, its quite a complex image with lots of folds and tucks in the fabric. I was more interested in the image and the colouring than the actual card itself, hence the card is quite basic no prizes here for being adventurous. I've applied gold glitter to the pocket, buttons, and general bling. I will enter this card into Stamp Something Digital and Fussy and Fancy challenge.

Colouring Tip

I created the deep shading on the jacket by applying a layer of Lush green to the shadow areas followed by a layer of Maroon applying as many layers till I was happy with the end result. You could also use greys, but I find these tend to dull the main colour, the Lush green enriched the maroon shading. I only used one colour on the scarf which was Moss Green, applying layers of the same colour to create the shading for the folds etc. By mixing complimentary colours IE: green and red you will automatically create a grey which is great for shaded area's. Have fun be experimental.

I've written a list of challenges that I want to enter and made one card. I'm torn between crafting and housework, dusting should be first on the list of to do's so I've blown the dust of my craft papers and generally fluffed about tidying my craft table he he. I made this card for the fun of it and because I liked Bev's sketch from Just magnolia challenge. Stamp man have their first challenge anything goes so I will probably enter the same card into their challenge too.
This afternoon I'm going to play with the Pro markers I'm forever trying different things out with them as I want to paint with them other than just colouring in and too be honest they are a very difficult medium to work with, watercolour paints are a breeze compared with these pens.
Tilda is coloured with Pro markers the rest of the card is made from pattern paper with the usual flower embellishments, very simple with no advanced techniques involved. Lol advanced to me is usually splattering paint and distressing something with heat. Hm mm not done any mixed media or sewing for a while.

I'm having awful problems with my photographs, I've quite a good camera so I'm beginning to think it's paint shops pro that's the problem. I've noticed that my images are loading up as 72 resolution and I've yet to find out why or how to get my pics to load up at 200 resolution the same as the camera settings. Grrrrrr I will have to live with poor picture quality for a while longer.
The other day I came across Sasya's Sketches challenge blog and thought I would have a go at the latest sketch #19.
I've coloured Tilda with Pro markers and used various pattern paper and flower embellishments to complete. To be quite honest I get more enjoyment from colouring than I do matching paper and embellishments. I'm feeling the urge to paint maybe I should blow the dust of the watercolours and concentrate on something different to card making for a change.

Tilda and Edwin Town Buildings

I've been looking for ages to buy Edwin Town Houses and a few days ago I found them, along with this delightful Tilda, I just love em, my favourites to date. I really like the sketch on the CLP challenge blog, it looks quite complex but I found it quite easy to do. In fact most of the card is made up from left over scraps from other projects, which is great, as bits of pattern paper drive me to distraction and I usually end up throwing them away when I do a big tidy. I wanted to do a bit of distressing on this layout so I will enter the same card into the I love Promarkers challenge.
Tilda is coloured with promarkers as are the town houses and the tulips. I've also applied various coloured fine glitters to the hat, edges of the parasol and the skirt. Apart from the Magnolia tulips there are no added flower embellishments, which is a nice change, sometimes flowers, although nice are an unnecessary distraction.

Colouring Tip

I do have another tip for colouring, this tip is suitable for Promarkers also colour pencils. Although I love working with promarkers I'm not happy with their range of reds. If I want to darken or enrich a dark red I overlay my reds with a Magenta type colour or Maroon, this not only darkens the reds but gives a richer colour which you won't get by adding red to red. I use this technique with colour pencils, the example of tulip on parchment demonstrates the richness of the red by adding Magenta.

I've used Berry red and overlapped the red with Maroon

This tulip is worked with colour pencils on parchment, I achieved the rich dark red by layering magenta over a red. Experiment darkening reds without using another dark red. have fun be experimental.

Pollycraft challenge #51 - Sketch by Marit

I'm feeling out of sorts with myself today, nothing but nothing has gone right since the electric went off last night, until then I was so enjoying my relax time colouring Tilda above. It was still light but dim so I could not carry on, hmmm no television, no computer, and worse of all no cuppa either. So I picked up a book and read until my light went. The electric came back on about 9.30pm by then I didn't feel like doing anything. The mood carried on this morning when I found a fly in the kitchen Yuk!! Tried swatting the ruddy thing but missed every time I left the door open as an invitation for it to leave but to no avail, swarms of little beetle type flies swarm whenever the sun warms up and just as I had my door open for the offending fly I ended up with more flying things in my kitchen. Whilst all this was going on I had already decided that I would have a go at the sketch by Marit on the Pollycraft challenge, I had all my papers sorted Tilda was ready all I had to do was follow the sketch!! You've guessed nothing seemed to match or marry well together the more I fluffed with ribbon and embellishments the worse things got. I could have started from the beginning and started all over again but when you have a great big black cloud blotting out creativity nothing is ever going to be right. So although not completely happy with this card I have still decided to enter into the challenge.

Criss - Cross Card

I've had so much fun making this cross over card, flowers, flowers, and more flowers. I'd seen a really nice tutorial for making cross over cards on Whiff of Joys blog and had been waiting for a good excuse to have go at making one, so I was pleased as punch to see that Just Magnolia had cross over cards for their monthly challenge.
As this card has a look of summer with the flowers and colours I thought I might also enter into this month Sir Stampalot challenge.
Apart from the Cross over card there are no other special techniques used. I've coloured Tilda with Pro markers and added glitter to the hair ribbon and skirt edge. Ribbon, flowers,and bead pin are used for the embellishments, oh yes and little hearts decorate the centre of the flowers

Tips and advice on colouring

On my previous post I added a little know how on how to get the best out of colouring. I've seen so many tutorials on colouring that I've come to the conclusion that someone See's a technique and then follows with their own tutorial, a bit like Chinese whispers, I have noticed there is a lack of knowledge on the best use of colour. I'm fortunate as my mother was a fine artist and I picked up most of my knowledge from her, this does not mean I can apply colour well, but I understand the principles even if I don't always apply them well. sadly she now has dementia and no longer paints, I would like to make the suggestion that for anyone wanting to give their colouring a bit of zing check out good artist tutorial sites, I'm not asking anyone to paint a landscape just check out their colour combinations and be experimental. It's fun.

Chocolate Tilda Challenge #1

Well Chocolate Tilda was definitely a challenge as I don't have many brown papers or embellishments but I couldn't resist the challenge and it was a good excuse to get the paint brush and paints out.
Tilda has been watercolour painted with Derwent Inktense pencils and although it is not clear on the photograph I've glittered her shirt and tips of the socks.

Colouring Tip

Thought I would add a helpful tip for colouring. Observation is the key to good colouring, we all know grass is green, leaves are green or are they? Next time you're in the garden have a really good look at the trees I mean really look and see how many colours you actually see, also notice the colour of tree trunks, they are actually any colour except brown. Don't be afraid to experiment with colour, try adding a touch of pale blue to leaves or a spot of red, a touch of moss green to tree trunks works a treat or be adventurous and try a light purple with a hint of moss green to colour a tree trunk. I just so love impressionist paintings although I've never been able to paint that way, they painted what they saw and not what they perceived to be there.

I had a lovely suprise this morning I made the top five in the Passion for Promarker challenge, Big hugz and thank you for choosing my entry.

Promarker Tip

I found to my disgust that I'd not put the lid back on my new Promarker, you've guessed the nib had dried out. Thinking on my feet I tried a couple of drops of Tim Holtz alcohol blending solution on the dry tip, the pen works great now. Not sure if this will help with a pen that is nearly out of ink or if it will work with Copic pens.

I'ts our grandaughters birthday soon and I'd already started to make her card in and around making my gift bags, as the new Passion for Promarkers challenge is think of a number I decided to finish the card and enter it into the challenge.

I've used promarkers to colour Tilda and finished with a dusting of glitter on the wings, I've used nestabilites circles and decorted with flowers and ribbon. I've kept the decoration simple avoiding beads and sharper objects such as bead pins.

Tilda blowing bubbles

'Hey-ho!' At least the sun's out, something to cheer about. I'm at my happiest when I'm covered in paper, paint and glue and the great thing is, I can create this state of blissful chaos when ever I choose lol. I bought this stamp last week and managed to have a session at colouring her with Pro markers and Polychromo's. I was not sure what to do with the image once I'd completed her so I settled for the easel card using a sketch from the CLP challenge and as I've dry embossed the oval I will enter it into the Magnolia Down Under challenge too, entering more than one challenge always becomes a challenge for me as I get into the most awful muddles with my links, I envy those long lists of challenge entries by other crafters, they have my admiration at their prowess at flawless linking.

Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays so many to celebrate and make for in the next few months. I've made a good start with the gift bags including the one pictured above. This by far is my favourite template and so easy to make, if you fancy having ago yourself the template can be bought from http://www.creationsbyar.com/ I love making bags, not just paper ones I sometimes get the sewing machine out and make my shopping bags too, the more colourful the better lol.
I enjoy making flowers and made the large flower and tag from the leftover paper from the bag. Tilda is coloured with Promarkers, cut and mounted onto the gift tag.
As bags are my favourite thing and love making them I thought I would enter this project into the Promarker challenge. I do hope it fits the said challenge as I've no mojo at the mo for cards.

Sketch and Bookmark birthday card

It's my Niece Stephanie's birthday next week so thought I would kill two birds with one stone and make it a challenge entry as well. I've used the sketch from the Tickled Pink challenge, sketch and bookmark #2. As she's an avid reader I know she'll enjoy using the book mark. She's had a stressful couple of weeks preparing for her last presentation for a Masters degree in Chemistry so I'm more than sure she'll be letting her hair down on her birthday. I will also be entering this card into Just Magnolia challenge 'In the Garden'.

Well I've managed to buy 3 issues of Magnolia Ink, but no luck in finding the first Christmas issue lol. I had a quick look on Ebay and found they were selling for £30 or more :-( Think I can live without having the first issue in my collection. I'd rather put the money towards the exciting prospect of enlarging my Magnolia stamp collection.

I've coloured Tilda and the Magnolia Tree mainly with Pro Markers with maybe a couple of Copic colours, they blend well together, I'm not a purist when it comes to brands, they all work the same. I've used very soft pattern pastel papers, lace, flowers, and heart embellishments and to finish I made a couple of bead pins.

Easel Card

Thought I would try an easel card, I made a circular one a few weeks ago which was fun and different, today I stayed with the traditional square. I started this card with a lovely image in my head of how I wanted it to look!! Hmm the finished card here looks so different to my wild imaginings. Still I'm quite pleased with the finished result even if it is different to how I first imagined it.
There is nothing out of the ordinary in regards to techniques etc. The images have been coloured with Copic markers, a bit of lace, flowers, pattern paper, scroll cut from a Tim Holtz die and a bead pin which I made as a finishing touch.

So much bling on this card I thought it would topple over. Tilda is watercoloured with Derwent Inktense pencils. I made another beaded wire decoration tree thingy with glass beads and mother of pearl discs. Flowers, lace and pearl embellishents finish the card.

I wanted to create a card with neutral colours, lol, my headache probably influenced this decision, anything too bright would have hurt. I've no particular sentiment to write on this card just the enjoyment of making it.

Recipe
I've used Derwent Inktense pencils to watercolour Tilda. Plain white cardstock for the main card, pale Ivory card with distressed edges for the centre square. Plain grey card is used for the upper and lower border. Centre circle made with ivory card cut, embossed and edged with blue pigment ink. I've made the bead tree thingy with spare glass beads and wire, there are also two Mother of Pearl discs on the tree but the camera has not picked up on this, pity as they are real pretty. Border completed with lace trim. Flowers and hearts complete the card.

Tattered door hanger

I wanted to do anything but a card project and thought my grandaughters might like a personalised hanger for their doors. So far I've managed to make one, I've left the name tag blank as I know they'll want to write their own names. I'm so pleased how neat this hanger looks, the same cannot be said for my work area.
